Bill Campbell appointed to role of Chief Operating Officer at Strategic Insight

Strategic Insight is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. Bill Campbell as its new Chief Operating Officer (COO). Bill brings a wealth of experience to Strategic Insight, with more than 35 years of experience in both the public and private sectors. Bill will provide exceptional value to Strategic Insight’s current clients and enhance our value well into future. His exceptional leadership in both government and industry and focused expertise in strategic planning, business development, capture, and program management align perfectly with Strategic Insight’s vision and 38-year history.

 

Strategic Insight’s Chief Strategy Officer, Rear Admiral Tom Druggan, U.S. Navy (Ret.), says “Bill is a true professional with a strong reputation for leadership and business execution. Strategic Insight’s future is bright with Bill as our new Chief Operating Officer, and we look forward to his leadership and expertise in the continued delivery of exceptional support to our clients.”

Bill served more than 25 years in the United States Navy, retiring as a Captain, and joined Strategic Insight in 2012. He served in multiple roles with Strategic Insight, ultimately becoming our Director of Business Development and Deputy Program Manager supporting the Program Executive Office Integrated Warfare Systems (PEO IWS). To expand his private sector experience, he then departed Strategic Insight to work for large businesses in capture and business development roles before returning to Strategic Insight in December. He has led all aspects of the business development life cycle, including strategy development, pipeline development, opportunity identification, shaping, capture, proposal management, and post-award contract initiation. 

 

Bill is also active in his community, including coaching Little League baseball, serving as the historian at American Legion Dyer-Gunnell Post 180 in Vienna, VA, and playing and volunteering with the USA Warriors Ice Hockey program, a 501(c)3 organization with the mission of organizing and administering an ice hockey program that provides a recreational, therapeutic experience and education for wounded and disabled veterans.

Strategic Insight Welcomes Rear Admiral Tom Druggan, USN (Ret.) as Chief Strategy Officer

Strategic Insight is thrilled to welcome RDML Tom Druggan, USN (retired) as our Chief Strategy Officer (CSO). Tom will leverage his extensive experience to help set the course for Strategic Insight’s future as it continues to serve its current clients and provide expert consulting services to new organizations. Tom’s exceptional leadership of large organizations with focused expertise in advanced technology and defense acquisition aligns perfectly with Strategic Insight’s vision and 38-year history.

Strategic Insight’s Chief Operating Officer, Mrs. Barbara Hess, announced RDML Druggan’s appointment as the company’s first Chief Strategy Officer. She noted, “Tom has a well-earned reputation for developing and leading high performing teams to innovatively analyze and solve some of the Nation’s most complex technical and programmatic challenges. We look forward to his leadership and expertise to help drive our continued delivery of exceptional support to our clients.”

Tom brings a unique blend of experience to the Chief Strategy Officer position. His subject matter expertise spans Missile Defense, Integrated Air & Missile Defense (IAMD), ship design and integration, international relations, Foreign Military Sales, and high-performance team development through collaborative, diverse & inclusive talent management. Currently, he is also a Senior Advisor to the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) Missile Defense Project.

Tom most recently served as the Missile Defense Agency’s (MDA) Program Executive for the Aegis Ballistic Missile Defense (ABMD) Sea-Based Weapon Systems in Dahlgren, VA, delivering BMD, Hypervelocity Missile Defense and Sea—Based Terminal defense capability to U.S. Navy BMD Cruisers, Destroyers and Aegis Ashore sites.

As Commander, Naval Surface Warfare Center, Tom led more than 17,000 scientists, engineers, technicians, and support personnel, providing end-to-end life-cycle service to deliver seapower and expand the U.S. Navy's warfighting advantage.

Tom has served as Major Program Manager (MPM) for two AEGIS Combat Systems Programs in the Program Executive Office for Integrated Warfare Systems (PEO IWS 1.0). His Pentagon tours include Special Assistant to the Chief of Naval Operations and Vice Chief of Naval Operations, and as a founding member of the Navy Operations Group Deep Blue.

At sea, Tom served as Commanding Officer of the AEGIS BMD destroyer USS O’Kane (DDG 77). He also served as the Executive Officer of the USS Lassen (DDG 82), commissioning combat systems officer aboard USS Kane and combat systems officer aboard USS Elliot (DD 967). 

A graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy where he earned a B.S., Tom also earned an M.S. in Operations Research from the Naval Postgraduate School and an M.S. in National Resource Management, Military National Resource Strategy and Policy from the Dwight D. Eisenhower School for National Security and Resource Strategy.  Tom also earned his DAWIA Level III in Program Management from the Defense Acquisition University.
