Steve’s zest for life is embodied in his favorite saying, “This is no dress rehearsal.” Live your life to the fullest and don’t put off tomorrow what you can do today.
The elements of a great Chief Operating Officer include attention to detail, financial and business savvy, and a thirst for improving the working environment for his staff members. Combined with his zest for life, Steve embodies these elements and more, thus perpetuating a people-centric culture at Strategic Insight.
As a graduate from the University of South Florida with a degree in Accounting and an MBA from University of Florida, Steve started his professional career by attending Officer’s Candidate School in Newport, Rhode Island and receiving a commission into the United States Navy. He built his business acumen in the Navy Supply Corps where he served for 30 years in a variety of financial management, logistics, acquisition and contracting-related leadership positions, including the Business and Financial Manager for the AEGIS Shipbuilding Program, the Director of Undersea Warfare Systems Contracts and Ship Repair Contracts at the Naval Sea Systems Command and as the Commander Defense Contract Management International. Unable to sit still and enjoy retirement, he also worked as a business consultant for Aerospace Industries of Malaysia (AIROD) and owned his own consulting business before joining the Strategic Insight team.
Steve has gained much insight through professional education from Senior Executive Programs at Dartmouth (international business), University of Virginia (resource management), and the European Institute of Public Administration (economics and finance) and received his certification in Contract Management from the Air Force Institute of Technology. Steve also held an unlimited warrant as a contracting officer and was a DAWIA Level III Certified Acquisition Professional while in the Navy.
On most weekends, Steve can be found near his home in Florida, supporting various athletic events involving his University of Florida Gators; however, spending time with his granddaughters, the apples of his eyes, always trumps any Gator activity.
