Jim Francis is the resident fossil at Strategic Insight. He is prone to severe mood swings, which on a sliding scale range from terrible to really ... crappy. Mood swings aside, Jim is known for insisting Strategic Insight bring "systems engineering rigor and discipline" in dealing with our clients' needs, for as ADM Rickover was fond of saying, "the devil is in the details."
Jim graduated from the University of Delaware with a degree in Mechanical Engineering and is a graduate of the Defense Systems Management School Program Management Course as well as several executive development programs. He began his career as a civil servant in the Navy supporting the Naval Weapons Laboratory in Dahlgren, VA, where he performed a number of engineering and program management duties for Ammunition programs, AEGIS Shipbuilding Project, Tomahawk, and Warfare Systems Architecture and Engineering. At Strategic Insight, Jim has provided technical support to a number of challenging initiatives in both government and private sectors. His expertise is sought in combat systems engineering, acquisition, and program management. Jim currently serves on the Board of Directors.
His down-time involves traveling the world on cruises where he has visited all seven continents. Jim has a sweet tooth or two and loves sampling baked treats brought into the office.
